How Botox Works to Soften Dynamic Wrinkles
If you’re bothered by forehead lines, frown lines, or crow’s feet, Botox may be one of several options to help soften these lines. At Paradise Medspa & Wellness in Phoenix, our experienced medical team has been treating dynamic wrinkles with Botox since 2008, providing Botox treatments for patients in Phoenix and the Valley with a focus on smoother, natural-looking outcomes.
What Botox Treats
Botox is used to soften dynamic wrinkles that form with repeated facial expressions, such as frowning, squinting, or raising your eyebrows. The most common areas we treat include forehead lines, frown (glabellar) lines between the brows, and crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes.
Not everyone is a candidate for Botox, and recommendations are made after an in-person consultation and medical review.
How Botox Works
Botox is a purified botulinum toxin protein that temporarily blocks nerve signals to specific facial muscles, so they do not contract as strongly.
By relaxing these targeted muscles, the overlying skin looks smoother and dynamic wrinkles become less noticeable, while untreated areas continue to move normally. With consistent, well-planned treatment, many patients see softening of existing lines, and in some cases Botox may help slow the appearance of deeper wrinkles over time. Individual responses vary.
Botox Cosmetic has been used for aesthetic wrinkle reduction for over 20 years and has a documented safety profile when administered by qualified medical professionals in appropriate candidates.
Botox is considered a minimally invasive treatment that can be performed in-office in just a few minutes, without surgery.
Before & After Botox Results
These photos illustrate possible improvements after Botox treatment. Individual results will vary based on each patient’s unique characteristics and treatment plan.
Treatment is available in injectable form and is most commonly used to treat glabellar frown lines (in between the brows), crow’s feet, and forehead lines*. (*The area is safe for treatment, however, it is currently considered ‘off label’.)
Results vary from person to person and cannot be guaranteed.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Botox?
Good candidates for Botox are generally healthy adults who are bothered by dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions, such as frowning, squinting, or raising the brows. It can be a good option for some adults who are looking for a non-surgical way to soften lines and maintain a refreshed, natural appearance, when deemed clinically appropriate.
During your consultation, we will review your medical history, medications, and goals to determine whether Botox is appropriate for you or if another treatment may be a better fit.
What to Expect During a Botox Appointment
During your visit, we start with a consultation to review your medical history, discuss your concerns, and understand your aesthetic goals. Your provider then performs a detailed facial assessment, watching how your muscles move when you make different expressions.
Based on this evaluation, we map out precise injection points and discuss the recommended number of units. The injections themselves typically take just a few minutes and are often described as a quick pinch, with minimal discomfort for most patients.
Because Botox appointments are brief and require minimal downtime, many Phoenix patients schedule treatment around work or social events.
When Results Start and How Long Botox Lasts
Many patients begin to notice softening of lines within about 3 to 7 days after treatment, with full effect often seen around the 2-week mark. Timing can vary by person.
On average, Botox results last about 3 to 4 months, though some patients may enjoy longer-lasting improvement depending on their individual muscle strength, metabolism, and treatment plan.
Botox Aftercare and Safety
After your injections, we recommend avoiding rubbing or massaging the treated areas and staying upright for several hours. Mild redness, swelling, or small bruises at injection sites are common and usually fade quickly.
Contact our office if you experience unusual pain, significant swelling, or any symptoms that concern you. For safety and predictable results, Botox should always be administered by a trained medical professional who understands facial anatomy and appropriate dosing.

Botox Pricing and Unit Guidelines
We do our best to disclose to our patients the projected amount of product needed to adequately treat the desired area before starting the injections. On average, most patients require 20-25 units to treat any given area. To find out the current per unit price for Botox, please call our office, and of course ask about any specials we may have going for Botox treatments or package deals.
Botox Alternatives We Also Offer
What is Jeuveau?
Jeuveau, also known as #NEWTOX, is another purified form of botulinum toxin that has been shown to deliver temporary improvement in moderate to severe frown lines by blocking the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity, temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines and reducing the appearance of movement lines. Jeuveau is another non-surgical option that can temporarily reduce the appearance of certain lines associated with facial expressions, which may help some patients achieve a smoother, more refreshed look.
What is Dysport?
Dysport is a third neuromodulator product and, as such, acts similarly to both Xeomin and Botox. The Dysport dosage calculation varies from the other brands in this category, requiring most patients to use 2-3 times as many ‘units’ of product to achieve similar results. However, the cost per unit is lower, and thus provides a similar effect at a consistent price to the other agents.
